OLD IS COOL. SOFT IS STRONG. CONTRAST IS GOLD.
Sophie Inard is a French fiber artist who wraps powerful objects— from boxing gloves to luxury bags—in hand-crocheted thread.
Her work creates unexpected dialogues between what society separates: masculinity and femininity, strength and tenderness, luxury and modesty.
Each piece is handmade in her studio in the Latin Quarter of Paris, using vintage objects, full of history. The crochet—built from granny squares—lets the object breathe, revealing both what’s hidden and what’s held.
Currently exhibiting at the McNay Art Museum in Texas (Sport and Spectator), Sophie Inard also collaborates with brands like Merci and Harley Davidson Paris Bastille, and her work is collected internationally.
Her pieces are more than objects—they are bridges. Between eras. Between people. Between contradictions we usually avoid.
Because true beauty, and true meaning, lie in contrast.
