For the “Les Regards de l’ICART” short film festival, I was commissioned to create six unique trophies around the theme “Gesture”. I wrapped cinema clappers in a textile embrace, transforming each one into a work of art that captures the essence of cinema: gestures that bring stories to life.

Now in the hands of talented filmmakers, screenwriters, and actors, these trophies are more than just awards. They are art pieces, true collectibles that celebrate the dialogue between visual storytelling and tactile beauty. For me, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect my art with the cinematic world, weaving a bridge between two creative realms.

À l’occasion du festival de courts-métrages “Les Regards de l’ICART”, j’ai été sollicitée pour créer six trophées uniques autour du thème “Le Geste”. J’ai alors emballé des claps de cinéma, transformant chaque pièce en une forme de récit palpable. Ces trophées incarnent l’essence du cinéma : des gestes qui donnent vie aux histoires.

Ces trophées, aujourd’hui entre les mains de réalisateurs, scénaristes, et acteurs talentueux, sont bien plus que des récompenses. Ce sont des pièces d’art à part entière, des objets de collection qui célèbrent le dialogue entre narration visuelle et beauté tactile. Pour moi, c’est une belle rencontre entre mon art et le monde du cinéma, un pont tissé entre deux univers.

Beyond competition: Breathing new Life into sports equipment through Crochet

In a world where power and competition are often celebrated, I find inspiration in reinterpreting the symbols of these qualities. By enveloping sports equipment – symbols of strength, endurance, and rivalry – in the soft, intricate art of crochet, I aim to present them in a new light, giving them a new identity.

This transformation process starts with selecting emblematic vintage objects from the sports world: skateboards, tennis rackets, balls of all sorts, basketball hoops, golf clubs. Each of these objects carries the history of countless competitions, victories, and defeats. By wrapping them in crochet, I extract them from their original context and place them in a space where art and sports dialogue, where competition gives way to contemplation.

This approach is not a negation of sports but a celebration of its often overlooked aspects: the beauty of effort, the grace of movement, the art behind the technique. Crochet, with its softness and flexibility, contrasts with the hardness and rigidity of sports equipment, creating an unexpected harmony.

Through these works, I wish to invite viewers to look beyond competition and power, to discover a new perspective where art and sport coexist and enrich each other. It’s an invitation to celebrate the connection between art and sport, not as separate and opposing realms, but as complementary expressions of human creativity.

A Chair at the Louvre: An Experiment in Participatory Art

In the courtyard of the Louvre, I placed a Breuer-style chair wrapped in crochet and invited passersby to pose for a free portrait. They sat casually, unaware that the chair was actually an artwork exhibited in museums. Once I revealed this, their posture and attitude immediately shifted.

With photographer Ines Lozano, we captured this transformation in a series of before-and-after portraits. This project illustrates how the perception of art shapes our interactions with objects and the spaces around us.

Dans la cour du Louvre, j’ai installé un fauteuil Breuer recouvert de maille crochetée et proposé aux passants de se faire photographier gratuitement. Ils posaient, insouciants, jusqu’à ce que je leur révèle que ce fauteuil était en réalité une œuvre d’art exposée en musée. Immédiatement, leur posture et leur attitude changeaient.

Avec la photographe Ines Lozano, nous avons capturé cette transformation à travers une série de portraits avant-après. Ce projet montre comment la perception de l’art influence notre manière d’interagir avec les objets et l’espace qui nous entourent.
